[spacing]New FAA Rules - Advisory
I just posted a document to the files section. It's titled "New Rules Affect Airline Passengers with Diabetes." I posted it because there have been questions regarding the traveling with testosterone vials and needles. I can't see where the regulations would be any different, as a matter of fact, they just might be stricter, since IM needles are much bigger than insulin needles.

[spacing]Testosterone Report
Testosterone, the most important male hormone, is produced by the gonads (testes in men, ovaries in women) and transported by the circulatory system throughout the body. According to some sources, testosterone makes everyone ? men and women ? desire sexual activity.

[spacing]TIME: The Testosterone Effect
Whatever else you may think about testosterone, you can tell it's a hot topic. Every time you mention that you happen to be writing about it, the first thing people ask is "Can you get me some?" (Everybody, even the women.) Maybe that's not so surprising. If there is such a thing as a bodily substance more fabled than blood, it's testosterone, the hormone that we understand and misunderstand as the essence of manhood.
[spacing]Littleton Case - No matter???
While it was pending, I tried to lay a case with the media of how stupid such a decision (as the one that actually came through) would be. My hope was that media coverage would so embarrass the court that the next review would cause the stupidity to be considered. In my opinion the San Antonio paper has done well, but media across the state and nation have been mostly silent thus far.

[spacing]Familar Men: A book of Nudes
Photographer Laurie Toby Edison is working on a book of male nudes: the men we see every day: all races, all shapes, all ages, not the athlete, the rock musician, or the model. The pictures tell a very powerful story: but the book needs more. If you can write about your own experience of being a man in today's world, at work, at home, on the street, in your sex life, this book needs you.

[spacing]Letter from a Spouse
I have been an out lesbian for over twenty years and involved in a monogamous relationship for over ten. I thought I had seen it all until my then-lover informed me a few months ago that she had always wanted to be a man. Because of the process I have been through since, I wanted to write about my experiences, as an educational tool for the gay, lesbian and bisexual communities about transgendered people and transsexuals (aka the "trans" community). I can't be the only one in the lesbian/gay community who's had no understanding, a lot of prejudice, and complete denial that they are us. Since everyone's experience is different, I don't speak for anyone but myself; this is not representative of the entire trans community.

[spacing]Clothing Guide for Short Men
Short men are paid little attention by most manufacturers, namely clothing. This site will help assist men under 5'8" to locate clothing to fit, without having to repeat a lot of research on their own. A reference of mail-order clothing sources, as well as manufacturers, is listed at the end.

[spacing]SOFFA Listing
If you're looking for a local support group, we suggest you try these first. If none of these is close, check to see if there are any FTM groups near you (see list of resources in the True Spirit program book) or check with IFGE (see listing below) or AOL's keyword TCF to find other groups (only North Dakota, South Dakota, and South Carolina lack ANY local support groups for transgendered persons; literally hundreds of them exist). Then call them and ask; they may well serve FTMs and/or family members and/or be able to refer you to someone near you who does.

[spacing]TGS-PFLAG Information
Welcome into our homes and lives. You are now a resident of the TGS-PFLAG neighborhood.

There are a lot of nice people here. Some of us are like you and some of us are quite different. Down the block is a woman who has a newly emerging son and right across the street is a woman with a daughter she didn't know she had until recently. On the corner lives someone who refers to herself as bigendered. S/he lives next door to a couple of women who used to be viewed as a "normally" married heterosexual couple. And over there lives a man who grew up as a girl right next door to a person who doesn't believe sie is either gender or that there are only two genders. The house behind you is where a transgendered woman lives who doesn't believe that surgery is right for her. And you live right between a woman who has a gay child and is working for a more accepting world, and a man who enjoys presenting as a woman during portions of his life.

[spacing]Binders

[spacing]Binders: How to make one
What I used to use before surgery was a home made undershirt that worked very well and could be worn under a regular t-shirt. It looked best if the T-shirt was colored one and a little lose. If you sew or know anyone who can make them for you, you might want to try this.

[spacing]CA Name Change
Regarding Name Change in CA. This is what I did in my county. First, I went to the Court House to find out what I needed to do. They recommended I go to the Court Library (around the corner in the same building) and look up a book called, "How to change your name in California". I do not remember who it was by but, I went and looked at it. The clerk said that their are blank forms in the back of the book to copy and all I needed to do was to type in the information.

[spacing]Revised Standards of Care
At this link is your copy of the revised "Health Law Standards of Care for Transsexualism". These Standards of Care were developed and adopted by consensus on September 15, 1993, after a two year period by the Health Law Project of the International Conference on Transgender Law and Employment Policy (ICTLEP), Inc., a non-profit Texas corporation with an IRS 501(c)(3) tax exemption. The Health Law Project's membership included professionals in the fields of law, health care policy and gender science -- most of which are transgendered themselves. It also included all interested lay transgenders who attended the first and second ICTLEP conferences in 1992 and 1993. Revised October 1997.

[spacing]Study on Respectful Language
We (James Green and Dallas Denny) are doing a paper about the use of descriptive terminology in the professional literature of gender identity issues. Basically, we are interested in reforming the literature so it speaks respectfully about transsexual and transgendered persons. To do that, we must determine what transsexual and transgendered people like, and what they don't like. We are asking community members to give us their opinions of certain terms which have been used in the literature, and some of the terms put forth by the community itself, so we can communicate the community's opinions to the readers of our paper.

[spacing]Jude Patton - FTM Advocate & Licenced Therapy
I have been an educator, advocate, activist and researcher for years. One of the "old guys" with 25 years+ post-transition. I am a therapist in private practice, specializing in transgender and intersex issues, but also provide services to the gay, les, bi community. I am certified by ASSECT as a sex educator and sex therapist and do a lot of work in sexuality counseling. My full time work is as a psychiatric physician assistant with a psychiatric group. I'm on the board of Ingersoll Gender Center, and was just elected to the board of FTM Int'l., Inc. I've been nominated for HBIGDA's board too, having served on it before in 1979-1981.

[spacing]What if. . .?
I wrote "What if. . ." just before Christmas of 1996. At that time I was having problems dealing with a young Transsexual. Both young in terms of her age (just 21) and her transition (not yet full time and illegally on hormones).

[spacing]My Coming of Age - Jerry Kellen McCracken
I suppose most female to male transsexuals, {FTMs}, can tell you they knew at an early age something wasn't quite right. Not to say we could verbalize it in a way most people could understand. I would imagine the same is true for most male to female, {MTFs}, transsexuals also.
