| New York - A Personal View |
September 13, 2001
A
blood-red sun rises slowly through the smoky trail of our cityís burning heart.
Our collective shock has turned to rage as our injury painfully enters into a 3rd
day.
Where
once stood a silvery symbol of our highest aspirations, now lies the foundation of
our unity as a city and as a nation of peoples.
Where
countless 'feel good about New York' campaigns have failed in their attempts to bring
us together, a handful of hateful men has succeeded for entirely the wrong reasons.
This faceless assault has unwittingly welded our spirits together with burning embers.
Their
hate has strengthened our bonds. Their mission united all of us in a common purpose.
What they sought to destroy has only been re-enforced.
We
will bury our dead, forever mourning the loss of the innocent. And long after the
names and faces of our attackers fade from history's memory, this city and it's proud
people will stand brightly in a silver sun.
Never
forgetting the two flaming orange beacons the brought us all together. |
